It’s loved by competitive brewers, casual home users, and hikers who want good coffee in the backcountry, which tells you something about how well it adapts to different situations.
The fun of owning an AeroPress is how much a recipe can change the final cup. The inverted method — where you flip the device upside down during steeping — gives you more control over how long the coffee contacts the water before you press. A fine grind with a short brew time gets you something concentrated and strong; a coarser grind with a longer steep produces something cleaner and closer to filter coffee.
